Information on getting to Cornbury as well as what to do on arrival.
Directions to Cornbury
The entrance to Cornbury House Horse Trials is off the Finstock Road (B4022) from Charlbury. Please do not use the Cornbury House postcode as it is highly likely it will take you in the wrong direction!
There are local roadworks and narrow lanes, and to minimise any inconvenience to the residents of Charlbury there is only one route into Charlbury for Horse Trials traffic. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS ROUTE ONLY which we will heavily sign.
The route in will be signed from the A44. You turn off the A44 at Neat Enstone onto the B0422.Please do NOT take the B4437 if you are coming from Woodstock, but stay on the A44 until you reach the B4022.
Once on the B0422 please follow the Cornbury House Horse Trials signs to Charlbury. When you come into Charlbury you should take a left hand turn staying on the B0442 and avoiding the village centre. You will then have a right hand turn into Finstock Road still staying on the B4022.
Continue on past Finstock Station. Shortly after the turn into Cornbury House Horse Trials is on your right hand side.
Please note traffic control will be in place on the entrance as this is also the exit route for horseboxes once you have competed. There will be signs showing the exit route from Cornbury House Horse Trials.
Please note there is a different exit for cars, which will be clearly sign-posted.
The drive is approximately 750m long. Halfway along is Coach Barns where there is plenty of room to pull in. The horse check-in will be carried out here. If you could pull into the lay-by it will help other traffic into the site. Please ensure you have your numbers clearly showing.
Please note that a membership card will required for Owners to gain access. Once you have checked in, continue to the main gate where you will be met by our Cornbury parking team in their blue hi-vis jackets. To ensure we comply with all our social distancing requirements, please follow all their parking instructions.
There are three horse walks to all phases of the competition. These are all signed. Once you are in the Horse Walk you will find a turn off to the Dressage arenas. Please note it is about 750m to the national Dressage arenas and 500m to the FEI arenas. Please ensure you leave a suitable amount of time to get there. Along this route you enter into the Deer Park. Please note NO dogs are allowed in the Deer Park. They are welcome in all other areas but must be kept on leads at all times and please clean up after them.
Please note there is a pedestrian route to the Dressage. From the Horse Box Park this is along the main drive, the opposite side of the Horse Box Park to the Horse Walks. We have laid on a shuttle service of buggies to take you up to the dressage. As with on all parts of the site, face-masks must be worn to use the shuttle. There are three pick-up points along the drive all marked to pick up the buggy. Please note again on this route you enter into the Deer Park and NO dogs please. The shuttle will also bring you back.
The show jumping and cross-country practice areas share the same horse route and will be signed accordingly. There is a separate exit from the show jumping and at the finish of the cross-country to return you to the main horse routes back to the Horse Box parks.
Please remember to maintain your 2m social distancing at all times on the horse walks.
The Information Point is central to the main area and close to the show jumping. A site plan, course plans and times will all be posted there. This will be looked after by Liz Lyall.
