About The Howden Way and The Howden Way Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme (TAP)

The Howden Way offers training and opportunities to riders of all ages and abilities.

It was launched in May 2022 and has been in development by a specialist team to evolve into the unique training programme that it is today. The large investment into the sport of eventing, made by David Howden, CEO and Founder of Howden and Founder and President of Cornbury House Horse Trials, has four key areas; The Howden Regional Training Academy, The Howden Talent Academy, The Howden Young Horse Academy and The Howden Way Young Horse Leagues.

 

The Howden Way Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme (TAP)

The Howden Way Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme (TAP) aims to provided everything you need to know when taking on an ex-racehorse. The programme provides step by step information from the moment when a racehorse leaves a racing yard and how to best transition ex-racehorses into their new ridder horse career and supporting a successful transition into their new lives.

AP provides a wealth of information on a range of content areas including how best to understand an ex-racehorse along with top tips from industry experts including vets, trainers and an array of elite Event riders, on everything from their daily routine through to the re-schooling process.

The programme also provides regional subsidised training opportunities throughout the year for all ex-racehorses, delivered by qualified coaches specifically designed to support the ex-racehorse into their new ridden career whether that be as a pleasure horse or for those aiming to compete at Cornbury in years to come.
